My name is Dr. Sheila Maillard, D.O./M.B.A. I am an R3/PGY-4 resident at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. I completed a Bachelor's degree in Russian language and literature through Duke University in Durham, N.C. As part of that unique degree, I was afforded the opportunity to travel to Saint Petersburg, Russia for a semester abroad. It was there that I met my eventual husband, a French citizen. We have two young children close in age, and I am currently juggling the challenges of being a mother, a wife, and a dedicated resident. I am so happy to have discovered a speciality I feel excited and passionate about, and it has been exciting to meet different faculty during my fellowship interviews. My specific interests include breastfeeding medicine, breast imaging and interventions in pregnant/lactating patients, and increasing patient comfort during breast biopsies. I am fortunate to have the space to share these interests through SBI's conference platform.
