We will present results and limitations of mammographic screening in women with personal history of breast cancer (PHBC), including elevated interval cancer rates. Appropriate frequency of mammographic screening will be discussed. Benchmarks from addition of supplemental screening MRI, contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM), and US will be presented in context of current guidelines and risk-based approaches for post-treatment surveillance.

Learning Objectives:

Discuss cancer detection and interval cancer rates of routine surveillance with digital mammography and digital breast tomosynthesis, and the influence of age at diagnosis, breast density, and other factors.
Discuss approaches to reducing interval cancer rates with use of supplemental MRI, CEM, or US in women with PHBC.
Detail false positive rates from various screening strategies.
