This session will first present the range of imaging appearances that can be encountered in women who have undergone mastectomy and breast reconstructions with implants or autologous flaps. The normal and benign appearance of reconstructions will be reviewed, including imaging appearance of acellular dermal matrix, surgical mesh, venous coupler device, RFID tagged tissue expanders/implants. Identification of normal vs abnormal findings will be discussed to avoid unnecessary biopsies.
Learning Objectives:
Recognize normal and benign findings after mastectomy and reconstruction
Recognize imaging appearance of tissue expanders, new generation implants, acellular dermal matrix
Identify normal findings status post flap reconstruction where biopsy should be avoided
