In this sessions, 3 speakers will review of the science of screening, including the RCTs, the importance of observational studies, and a dissembling of the fallacies and controversies that surround screening. They will debunk the USPSTF 2023 guidelines and other articles published in the literature, and review the literature supporting better screening with mammography, and supplemental screening for women with dense breasts..

Learning Objectives:

Explain why the US Preventive Services Task Force 2023 breast cancer screening guideline changed to recommending mammography screening starting at age 40, and discuss why the guidelines are still not optimal.
Demonstrate through modeling data, wy annual screening is better than biennial.
Discuss the deficiencies in the Canadian and US Task Force guidelines regarding dense breasts.
