This session will first present the range of imaging appearances that can be encountered in women who have undergone mastectomy and breast reconstructions with implants or autologous flaps. The normal and benign appearance of reconstructions will be reviewed, including the visualisation of acellular dermal matrix, surgical mesh, venous coupler device, RFID tagged tissue expanders/implants, etc. Neoplastic complications will be discussed, specifically breast cancer recurrence and the rare complications of implant-associated malignancies. To conclude, new minimally invasive treatment options for breast cancer will be presented, such as cryotherapy, with emphasis on the paradigm change involved for these techniques to be adopted.

Recognize normal and benign imaging findings frequently encountered in women who have undergone breast reconstruction with implants or flaps after mastectomy.
Recognize and know how to manage the imaging findings of recurrence following mastectomy with reconstruction.
Understand the techniques for minimally invasive treatment of breast cancer and the paradigm change involved.
